bio + cv

I am a photographer, artist and teacher.

After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree (the Zoology Department tried to recruit me) in Art, I drove and photographed around the American West for a year. Non-degree study in Color Photography and hand printing C-prints at UW-Milwaukee led me to the graduate photography program at the University of Washington in Seattle.

While attending the "U-dub" I worked as a faculty technology liaison at the Center for Advanced Research Technology in the Arts and Humanities (CARTAH) and became enamored with digital video. My thesis was an installation of large prints, a 31-foot wide slide projection and a video projection. After graduate school I worked creatively in video art for several years and collaborated extensively with modern dance companies and musicians.

I have used traditional and digital photographic technologies creatively since 1995 and have exhibited photography, digital images, video, and solo performance work in over 80 exhibitions around the U.S. I have taught design, digital art, and photography at many accredited universities around the country. I currently teach full-time in the Technology, Arts, and Media (TAM) program in the ATLAS Institute at The University of Colorado in Boulder.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin but have lived in Spain, Nantucket Island, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington State, Colorado, New Mexico, regular Mexico, and possibly somewhere else. I now reside in Boulder, Colorado.
